The adventure and romance of America’s Old West are imbedded in its distinctive 20-inch octagon barrel, straight-grip American walnut stock with brass buttplate and brass barrel band. The solid top brass receiver features side ejection. The overall length is 38½ inches and this powerhouse weighs in at 8.68 lbs. A nice 19th century touch is the use of a fully adjustable Marble semi-buckhorn rear sight with white diamond insert and brass beaded front sight. The Big Boys have the smoothest actions of any centerfire lever action rifles on the market today. They work beautifully to give you competition shooters a leg up in any event you take part in.

The Lever Action Axe .410 is a scabbard and shoot again and again shotgun. It has the same 5-round capacity of 2 shells as its larger Lever Action .410 Shotgun counterparts, but the addition of a loading gate means that you can keep that capacity topped off at all times without needing to remove a tube magazine. Another practical advantage is its size. With a barrel length of just under 16 and an overall length of just over 26 the Axe can be stored in far more places than your average long gun. The barrel is finished off with a brass bead front sight and invector style threads that are fitted with a removable full choke right out of the box. The axe handle pistol grip gives the firearm its name and is engraved on the bottom with the iconic Henry Cowboy logo for that unmistakable touch of Henry class.

Your introduction to shot gunning could have been taught by Dad, or maybe Grandpa, by taking you out in the forest or field and patiently explaining how to shoulder it, how to lean into the gun, how to use that bead, and how to lead on a bird or rabbit. Later on, you may have graduated to something more expensive, but the memories will never be outgrown. Far too often overshadowed by the speed of a modern repeater, the truth that many already know is that a good single-shot shotgun today can still bring home fur and feathers every bit as well as it ever did, and Henry's done much better than merely “good” with theirs.
Sharing the same action as Henry's single-shot rifle, their new break-top shotgun in 20 gauge features the same rebounding external hammer and dual-direction pivoting locking lever setup that blocks hammer contact with the firing pin unless the trigger’s pulled, and the same interlock system prevents opening the action with the hammer cocked, or closing it with the hammer cocked, as additional safety measures.
Like the rifle, there’s no manual safety on these shotguns, and they wear American walnut with a smooth brass butt plate on the brightly polished brass-framed model. The barrel is black matte finished, carrying a straight English-style wrist.
